Islamabad – 23 April 2025: Khawaja Asif on Pahalgam attack denied Pakistan’s involvement, labeling it a local rebellion rooted in longstanding discontent against Indian rule. Speaking to Pakistan’s Live 92 channel, Asif said the attack had no external links and described it as “home-grown resistance.”
His comments followed the killing of 28 tourists in Baisaran meadow, near Pahalgam in occupied Kashmir, during a deadly armed assault. Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned early from Saudi Arabia after the incident, although New Delhi has not officially blamed Pakistan. However, social media accounts and journalists are continuously blaming Pakistan. Khwaja Asif launched a counter-offensive and claimed India faces uprisings across multiple regions, including Nagaland, Chhattisgarh, and Manipur.
“These revolts are internal,” he said. “They stem from repression—not foreign plots. People are reacting to injustice and denial of rights.” Asif added that India’s treatment of minorities, including Muslims, Christians, and Buddhists, is fueling anger across the country.
He also alleged Indian involvement in destabilizing Pakistan, especially through sponsoring unrest in Balochistan province. “We have shown proof multiple times,” he insisted. “India continues to interfere in our internal matters and support separatist elements.”
Khawaja Asif on Pahalgam attack echoed a long-held Pakistani stance, sharply differing from India’s view on Kashmir unrest. India routinely accuses Pakistan of backing armed groups in the region, a claim Islamabad repeatedly denies.
